San Mateo Knolls, California
San Mateo Knolls, California
The San Mateo Knolls neighborhood is located in the hills of San Mateo. Building started at the base of the hill with modest homes which got larger and more expensive as they worked their way to the top along the Alameda. Design is conventional, but the topography and architecture gives these neighborhoods charm, especially toward the top.
All of the Peninsula’s major commute routes are easily accessed via the Alameda to Hwy 92. An added bonus are two sizable neighborhood shopping districts off El Camino. Hillsdale Shopping Center on 31st Avenue is a short drive on the Alameda north. Attractions include Macys, Nordstrom, Coach, and many other top stores. It is a short to Belmont Caltrain Station, with service between San Francisco and San Jose. Downtown San Francisco and Silicon Valley are about a 30-minute commute away.
Centrally located schools and parks lend to the neighborhood feeling. The local school, Laurel, is one of the better-testing San Mateo schools.
World-class weekend gateways, including Napa Valley, Carmel-by-the-Sea, and Lake Tahoe are within very reasonable driving distances.
