U.S. businesses get failing marks for trustworthiness

Trust in U.S. businesses is lower now than it was in 2010, according to an Edelman survey. While trust in big institutions -- from business to government -- is higher overall worldwide, only 46% of U.S. respondents say they trust businesses, down eight points from last year and well below the 56% of people worldwide who say they have faith in business. "The new barometer reflects the belief that trust is a vital element of social capital," Edelman said. MarketWatch (3/11)
