SBA steps up oversight of businesses in HUBZone program

The Small Business Administration has increased oversight of small-business contractors in its HUBZone program, which offers federal contracting opportunities to companies in economically distressed areas. The agency visited 1,000 businesses in 2010, up from fewer than 100 in 2008. "The vast majority of these firms are well-intentioned and well-behaved, but occasionally you find a bad actor," said SBA's Joseph Jordan. The Wall Street Journal (11/19)
