After reading national studies that pointed out that fewer women are getting the annual screening, local doctors, Andrea Metkus, M.D. and Harriet Borofksy, M.D.  partnered with Mills-Penninsula Health Services and a number of San Mateo businesses and organizations to bring you San Mateo Loves its Women.

These doctors are passionate about getting the word out that Breast Cancer continues to be a major health concern despite the decrease in the number people getting annual screening. The San Mateo Loves its Women project aims to encourage women to get the annual mammogram and educate people about the importance in doing so.

You can visit the site at www.smwomen.com to learn more about the, doctors, understand why it is important to get a mammogram and various other Breast Health Resources.

In addition you might want to check out the San Mateo Loves its Women list of honor roll partners where you can pick up a calendar with the many Calendar Girls that have their own special message to you about the importance of getting annual screening.
