SBA has money to lend this year, but 2011 looks uncertain

Lending backed by the Small Business Administration was up for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, with nearly 55,000 small businesses landing loans guaranteed by the government. Those loans were doled out in fits and starts as federal funding became available. We're now in another "start" period, thanks to $505 million in guarantees provided under the Small Business Jobs Act, but the latest program expires in January.
