Local retailers are hopeful about holiday sales


Small stores were mostly left out of the Black Friday madness in favor of the deals offered by big-box retailers, but many consumers turned out at smaller retailers later in the weekend, for a promising start to what many hope will be a good holiday shopping season. Store owners profiled here say they sense a positive atmosphere going into December, and many plan special shopping days later in the month.
