Big banks' loans to small business are leveling out

Small-business lending appears to be stabilizing, with loans of $100,000 or less down by just 1% for the 2009-to-2010 time frame, compared with a drop of 5.5% a year earlier. The Small Business Administration's Office of Advocacy, which compiles the annual statistics, found that the 34 biggest banks had a 39% share of all outstanding small-business loans last year.
