Going Green is more than just a buzz word, it's a way of living. The Real Estate Industry has adapted to these changes as well in the last few years. From Eco-Friendly financing to green moving companies there many aspects to green real estate.

Buyers can 'buy green' and sellers can make home improvements that are green and that can help to increase the value of their home. There are many benefits and reasons to go green if you are selling or buying. HGTV has listed the top 10 reasons here

A major benefit to going green is the financial rewards, for both buyers and sellers. If you are buying a home there are many energy efficiency tax credits available, and this is an added benefit to the monthly reduction of costs that are associated with such green items like solar panels or energy efficient water heaters.

Halloween in San Mateo

Halloween time is here and if you are looking for a safe and fun event, look no further. The San Mateo area offers many fun events this year for Halloween for all members of the family to enjoy!

Downtown San Mateo Halloween Fun Fest

Have the kids get all dressed up and head out for this free event on Oct. 24th at 11am. Make the trip and come on over to Downtown San Mateo for a ghoulish good time. Entertainment, Crafts, Pumpkin Patch, Bounce Houses, and Trick or Treating for the kids... it's all part of the fun.  The local businesses are taking part to help you kick off a safe and happy on Halloween!

This event will be located at the US bank, the parking lot in the back is where the event will be located, so you will be limited to finding street parking or using the parking lot structure on the corner of ND Ave and El Camino Real.  The bank is located on the corner of 3rd Ave and San Mateo Dr, but the parking lot is next to a Japanese Restaurant called Masu.

Halloween Spooktacular

Local children are invited to a free and festive Halloween Spooktacular event at Hillsdale Shopping Center! The shopping center will kick-off Halloween with trick-or-treating and participating stores handing out treats to costumed children, ages 12 and under. Kids will also enjoy spooky special events including the Magic of Chin Chin, Comedian Magician Timothy James, Boswick the Clown, balloon twisting, pumpkin decorating, a slime booth and more.

Where: Hillsdale Shopping Center  5:00pm Fri 10.31.

Boo at the Zoo

Head to the San Francisco Zoo for some trick-or-treating fun with the animals! Come dressed up in you Halloween costume and enjoy the day roaming the Zoo for tasty treats to take home. Don't miss out on spectacular magic shows, take-home crafts and the amazing pumpking "chomp 'n stomp" where the animals get their own Halloween goodies!

Activities are free with paid Zoo admission and no registration is required for this event. The Zoo requests that trick-or-treaters not wear rubber masks as they may frighten the animals.

When: October 24 & 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Rain or shine. Kids ages 4-14 dressed in costume receive $1 off regular admission

Slither & Squeak Halloween

Wear your Halloween costume to a spooky science spectacular at Coyote Point Museum on Saturday, October 31.  Discover the secrets of animals who slither, squeak, creep and crawl.  Take a closer look at live animals as well as skeletons and skins.

Pick out a pumpkin for your family (courtesy of TomKat Ranch and while supplies last) and experiment with pumpkin science. Saturday, October 31, 2009
10:00am-3:00pm  Find out what other science tricks and treats we have up our sleeves and join us for a fun-filled family event.  Admission to this exciting one-day event is included with Museum admission.
